Service Description

Groom lessons are designed for students who want to build the hands-on horsemanship skills used every day in a Thoroughbred racing stable. Students will learn how to safely handle and care for horses while developing an eye for the small details that matter. Lessons may include grooming, picking feet, bathing, cooling out, tacking and untacking, cleaning equipment, basic leg care, bandaging, recognizing heat or swelling, and learning common racetrack routines and terminology. As you progress, we’ll introduce more advanced skills based on your experience and goals, including different types of bandages, poulticing, equipment changes, preparing horses for training or race day, and understanding what to look for when caring for an individual horse. There is no set number of lessons or fixed timeline. You choose how often you come, and each lesson builds on what you already know. Whether you are completely new to horses or want to become more confident and capable in a racing barn, we meet you where you are and build from there.
