Foreman/ Assistant Trainer Lesson
Learn what it takes to keep a racing stable running.
Service Description
Foreman and Assistant Trainer lessons are designed for students who want to understand the day-to-day management and decision-making that happens behind the scenes in a Thoroughbred racing barn. Students will learn how to organize a barn, communicate with riders and grooms, monitor horses before and after training, understand equipment and treatment routines, assist with training schedules, prepare horses for race day, and recognize when something may need a trainer or veterinarian’s attention. Lessons may also include barn paperwork, entries and race preparation, coordinating appointments, medication and treatment organization, staffing responsibilities, shipping logistics, and learning how to manage the many moving parts of a racing stable. As you progress, lessons become more detailed and responsibility-focused, helping you build the practical knowledge, confidence, and judgment needed to work in a leadership role. There is no set number of lessons or fixed timeline. Instruction is tailored to your experience, career goals, and the areas you want to strengthen. Whether your goal is to become a foreman, assistant trainer, trainer, or simply gain a deeper understanding of racing stable management, we meet you where you are and build from there.
